The Basque Red Piment d’Espelette
This is the season for picking the Famous Red Pepper in the Basque Country!
“La fête du Piment Rouge d’Espelette” takes place every year on the last weekend of October in Espelette, French Basque Country. The harvest ends at the beginning of December. One of the strong points, we find them hanging in ropes on the houses. You will find this pepper in all its forms, in strings with a minimum of 20 peppers and a maximum of 100 red peppers, in powder, fresh, raw, in jam or in jellies with syrup or honey.
